Sometimes just pootling can be be the best way to see a place. Sometimes, it helps to be just a little bit lost :)

Aix-les-Bains, near Annecy in South East France

Somewhere I’ve always wanted to return to after an all-too- short visit some years ago with my family.

Pootling back after a gorgeous lake swim, with an unreliable map app and the sky turning slightly angry, we had fun pointing my phone through a few gateways and keyholes in the backstreets.

Favourite things about Aix …

One of our favourites was a painting on the end of a building which at first had us completely fooled - until we noticed the seriously clever timewarp.
