Choosing the perfect sea glass for a beautiful Thea Ring

The beauty of having something made to order, is that not only can you choose the design of the ring youβd like made, but also exactly how youβd like it made, and that can include a very specific sea glass colour.
The Glasswing sea glass collection is pretty vast, with pieces in all shades and hues of sea glass from all over Devon and Cornwall, other UK beaches and some further flung places too!
We just canβt go to a beach (or river) anywhere without picking up at least a couple of pieces of glass or pottery (a couple of pocket fulls that is!), which is probably something you can relate to if youβre reading this, whether thatβs you, or someone you love!
Jordanβs Thea Sea Glass Engagement Ring
Jordan wanted everything to be perfect for his fiancΓ©es engagement ring, so when he chose the Thea triple sea glass ring, he was determined to get the shade of sea glass just right, and he asked to see a some different olive green pieces before making his choice.
After a couple of email exchanges, we narrowed down the depth and hue of the olive green Jordan was envisaging, and then the task was on to select a selection of likely candidates to photograph and send some images over to him. We also threw in a couple of wildcards too, for contrast and serendipityβs sake.
Spraying the sea glass with water is a great way to bring out the colours of the frosted pieces, making it easier to see them in photos. Jordan then chose the piece he liked best.
After it was cut and shaped for setting, the sea smoothed, oval nugget of glass that Jordan chose had an ever so slightly rounded surface. The curved surface does make it slightly trickier to set, but the finished result works really well.
Loose Olive Sea Glass Pieces
The colour balances beautifully with the recycled yellow gold of the ring, and itβs all set off with two sparkling recycled white diamonds either side of the sea glass, and a lightly organic hammered band.
